Walhydra's White Slave Adventure, Part 2

In 1997, Walhydra started serializing for the old Crone Thread listserv an adventure which took place way back in 1981 with Nikki (Husband #3), before she and Hubby Jim finally got together. Here is the continuation of that story.
WWSA, Part 1
Part 2: In which Walhydra discovers that Buddhist equanimity can be a rather expensive pain in the ass

Nina Paley's "Mimi & Eunice"

Walhydra has stumbled onto another great comic strip, Mimi & Eunice. Here's what artist Nina Paley says about it:

As far as I can tell, Mimi & Eunice are two middle-aged children/baby psychos/heterosexual lesbians. That’s all I can surmise so far.
Um...okay....

But words don't matter. This about sums it up.

Help I don't need

Walhydra wonders:

Have you noticed how, for the sake of helping you clean house, cats always throw up where a bare foot can find it in the dark?

Science in My Fiction

Over on Astrogator's Logs, Athena Andreadis is introducing a new blog called Science in My Fiction by Kay Holt and Bart Leib, the founders/editors of Crossed Genres.

Science in My FictionKay Holt writes:

The purpose of the Science in My Fiction blog is to get science fiction and fantasy writers and fans thinking ahead of science again. Playful bloggers will take a look at recent scientific developments and extrapolate potential futures from them.

This is a fight for survival of the fiction. It’s time to seize culture and do science to it!
Looks promising.

While she's at it, Walhydra figures she might as well plug Crossed Genres: The magazine of Science Fiction & Fantasy with a Twist, to which Athena's post has just introduced her. As their About page says:
Crossed Genres is a monthly Science Fiction/Fantasy magazine. It was founded in September 2008; Issue #1 was released on December 1, 2008.

Crossed Genres works a bit differently than most magazines. Every month, a new genre is chosen as the Current Genre; for that month, all Fiction and Cover Art submissions must combine that genre with some aspect of Science Fiction or Fantasy.
Another toy to play with!

"Constant Craving"

Constant Craving
by K.D. Lang

Even through the darkest phase
Be it thick or thin
Always someone marches brave
Here beneath my skin

Constant craving
Has always been

Maybe a great magnet pulls
All souls towards truth
Or maybe it is life itself
That feels wisdom
To its youth
